Ronald Marvin Kuhnert, age 80, passed away on February 7, 2021 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, MI. Ron was born November 25, 1940 in Rugby, North Dakota, the son of Vernon and Ida (Krueger) Kuhnert. In 1961, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving 6 years, with the last 2 years overseas during the Vietnam War.
On August 26, 1967, he was united in marriage to Joyce M. (Dornan) Kuhnert, and they were longtime Portage residents. For over 42 years, Ron was employed with Michigan Bell/AT&T until his retirement in 2009. Ron was an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting, golfing, walking and biking.
The most important part of Ron’s life was his family, especially watching his grandsons in all of their activities. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Joyce Kuhnert; his son Steve (Ronda) Kuhnert; daughter-in-law Kristine Kuhnert; five grandsons Noah, Lucas, Holden, Maxwell and Quinn Kuhnert; sisters Carol Lassiter and Marlys Erickson; nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his son Scott Kuhnert in 2014; also, by his parents and his siblings Vernon Kuhnert, Jr. and Debra Kuhnert.
