Ronald M. Luzi, 77, of Bristol passed away peacefully Saturday, October 11, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with his family at his side.

 

He was born September 23, 1931 in Bristol, son of the late Joseph and Mary Luzi.  A lifelong resident of Bristol, he had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Ron was a mechanical engineer and partner with the engineering firm of Van Zelm, Heywood, and Shadford in West Hartford for over thirty years.  After his retirement, he continued work as a consultant for Modern Mechanical in Farmington.  He was an active member of St.

 

He was predeceased by his wife Julia E. (Palaia) Luzi and sister Clara Devino and survived by his four children, Sharon L. McLaughlin and her husband, Tom of Manchester, Roxane G. Smith and her husband, Ted of Terryville, Ronald J. Luzi and his wife, Amy of Glastonbury, Dawn M. Ferreira and her husband, Rui of Burlington; his six grandchildren, T.J. McLaughlin, Mindi McLaughlin, Ashley Smith, Chelsea Smith, Juliana Luzi, and Ava Ferreira; his sister, Linda Luzi of Bristol; his companion Greta Mello of Rhode Island; several nieces and nephews.
