He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Virginia Champion; his wife Tina Champion; and his sister, Angeline Starr. He is survived by his siblings, Sonny Champion, Jr., Curtis Champion (Vickie), Eddie Champion, David Champion (Linda), Bill Champion (June), Terry Champion (Geraldine), and Marie Clinkscales; honorary parents, Charles and Helen Newsome; and a host of nieces and nephews.
