Ronald “Ron” Lee Heinemann, 73, of 252 Richmond Townhouse Road, Carolina, died August 17, 2006, at his home after a short illness. He was the husband of Jean M. (Burdick) Heinemann.

 

Born Dec. 1, 1932, and raised in New Castle, PA, a son of the late Joseph C. and Mildred L. (Yoho) Heinemann, he graduated from New Castle Senior High School in 1950

 

He worked as a machinist and plating supervisor at the former Tanner Plating Co. in New Castle before coming to Rhode Island in 1963 where he was employed at the former Warner Bros. Mill, on High Street in Ashaway, for two years.  He and his family moved back to Pennsylvania in 1965. He worked as a machinist at the New Castle Company and later as a die maker at Pittsburg Forgings in Coraopolis, PA.

In 1970 he returned, with his family, to Rhode Island. He operated the Exeter Mobil Station on Route 3 for many years and later worked with his son and daughter at the North Stonington Shell Station before retiring in 1994.

 

Ron was a member of Charity Lodge No. 23 F. & A.M.; a member and Past Noble Grand of Friendship Lodge # 16; and a member of Narragansett Encampment and Carolyn Rebekah Lodge No. 31, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He served as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Rhode Island, IOOF, in 1990-91. He was a former member of the former Hope Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, in Kenyon, where he served as Patron three times. He was also a life member of Exeter Fire Company No. 1.

 

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and especially enjoyed his fishing trips to Lake Marcia in Ontario, Canada, and hunting trips to Pennsylvania. He was also an avid cribbage player and played with the Washington Country Cribbage League and the South Country Masonic Center Cribbage League

 

In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Nola A. Heinemann and Jeffrey W. Heinemann of Pawcatuck, Andrew P. Heinemann and his wife, Katrina, of Charlestown, and Jeanne M. DiPrete and her husband, Michael, of Richmond.  He also leaves a brother, Joseph W. Heinemann and his wife, Barbara, of Transfer, PA; three grandchildren, Ariel and Andrew Heinemann of Charlestown, and Ronald J. Heinemann of Richmond.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
