Ronald L. Lowrey Jr., 58 of Rutland died Thursday December 15, 2011 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital after a 2 year battle with cancer. Ronald is survived by his wife of 36 years Sherry: 2 sisters Kim (Monte) Haukoos of Renwick and Michelle (Manuel) Rodriquez of Clare, one brother Kevin Lowrey of Fort Dodge, 5 nephews, 4 nieces, 4 great nieces and 3 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law John Murphy. Ronald L.Lowrey Jr., the son of Ronald L. Lowrey Sr. and Beverly (Brown) Lowrey was born August 27, 1953 in Iowa City. He attended school in Fort Dodge and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years achieving the rank of sergeant. On May 16, 1975 he was united in marriage to Sherry (Meyer) Lowrey at Gilmore City. The couple made their home in Gilmore City and Bradgate before settling in Rutland where they have lived for 31 years. Ron retired from Corn Belt Power Cooperative in Humboldt after 30 years of service. He was an avid hunter, outdoors man and conservationist. He especially enjoyed riding and working on his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Ron’s life was deeply impacted by cancer with both his parents and wife battling the disease before his own diagnosis. He and his wife became very involved in Humboldt County Relay for Life, where he was a part of the Corn Belt Power team.
