Ronald Kevin Stevens, 54, of LaSalle, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. Mr. Stevens was born August 8, 1962 at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley to Melvin and Elsie (Hart) Stevens. He lived with and was raised by his sister, Joanne, from the age of 10, after his parents passed away. He was a 1981 graduate of Marseilles High School.
He worked in produce and was produce manager for 27 years at Illinois Valley Food Center in LaSalle.Mr. Stevens was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing and camping. He loved American history and reading, especially westerns. He adored his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that numbered over 50.Survivors include four sisters, Joanne McCullough and Cheryl Stevens both of LaSalle, Donna Girard of Ottawa and Judy (Dale) Swiskoski of Peru; two brothers, James L. (Joyce) Stevens and Gerald Stevens both of LaSalle and numerous nieces and nephews, including his godchildren, Amber and Kyle Lynch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Carol Hernandez, Linda Stevens and Bonnie Stevens and one brother, Melvin Stevens.Honorary pallbearers are Alfred Girard, James A. Stevens, Jason Pufpaf, Eric Lynch, Brian McConnell and Richard Carlson.
