Metiva, Ronald “Hoss” Joseph of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in the comfort of his home, following a long battle with cancer. Ronald Joseph Metiva was born on December 14, 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Elwood J. and Marlene Joan (Craft) Metiva. He was a proud 1972 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Ron proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1972 through 1985 before being honorably discharged as a sergeant. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Zilwaukee. Ron enjoyed playing Santa Claus throughout the years. He fondly recalls the first time in 1973, he was stationed in Germany and he paid another service member to cover his shift so he could go to an orphanage and pass out presents to children with measles. He was a gregarious guy, full of life and had a heart of gold. Above all, Ron loved and cherished his family, especially spending time with his daughter, Michaela.

Surviving are his daughter, Michaela Joan Metiva of Saginaw; a stepson, William Larsen of Saginaw; two brothers and one sister: Dennis (Brenda) Metiva of Saginaw, Cindy Metiva of Saginaw, and Jerry (Jeannie) Metiva of Hemlock. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends.

Honoring Ron’s wishes cremation has taken place.
