Ronald Jeffery Smith, age 81, of Union Point, Georgia, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018. Born August 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Elsie King Smith and Grover Linton Smith. He was a graduate of Union Point High School. After high school he moved to Atlanta, Georgia and was a longtime employee of Atlanta Gas Light Company. He was self employed for many years as owner of the local Union Point Dairy Bar and Burger Ranch before returning to Atlanta, Georgia where he was employed and retired from Fulton County Superior Court. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as brothers, Jimmy, Larry and Tony Smith. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Ann Smith; daughter, Cindy Smith Campbell and her husband Scott of Destin, Florida; son, Brian Jeffery Smith and his wife Patsy of Watkinsville, Georgia; three granddaughters, Courtney Michele Campbell of Austin, Texas, Caroline Lynn Campbell of Alexandria, Virginia, and Katherine Novella Smith of Watkinsville, Georgia; two sisters, Mary Smith Ferguson of Athens Georgia and Dorothy Smith Rhodes of Crawfordville, Georgia; two brothers, Billy Smith and his wife Jackie of Crawfordville, Georgia and Mike Smith and his wife Kay of Union Point, Georgia as well as many nieces and nephews.
He loved animals as well as motorcycles. His favorite pets, a small Jack Russell named Daisy and his two cats, Allie and Stella. He spent lots of time in the 1970’s riding dirt bikes as well as his prized 1969 Triumph, 650 Bonneville, and his Harley Davidson Softail Nostalgia. Later in life he enjoyed golf and fishing. He always enjoyed returning to his home town of Union Point, Georgia where he loved reminiscing with old friends and former neighbors.
