Ronald J. Monson, 74, of Midland, passed away on July 15, 2019. Ron was born in Bay City on October 6, 1944 the son of the late Nelson and Alfreida (Shinevar) Monson. He married Carol Wells on February 4, 1967 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Linwood.

Ron served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of Vietnam. He retired from the Dow Chemical Company having worked in the Power Dept; Maintenance Technical Services, Craft Services and the Environmental, Health & Safety Departments. Ron also worked 5 years at the Great Lakes Safety Training Center/Contractor Owners Safety Team. During his early years he was involved with West town Baseball serving on its Board of Directors and coached baseball, softball and soccer. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, working in the yard and time spent with his children, their spouses and grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife Carol of over 53 years. Daughter and Son in Law, Kelley and Kyle Keeley of Rochester Hills, Son and Daughter in Law Marc and Bethany (Treichel) Monson of Ludington. Three Grandsons Parker James Keeley, Logan James Monson, Jackson Marc Monson, and one granddaughter Elizabeth Emmalyn Monson. Also surviving him are his sisters Marlene (Sam) Bishop of Pinconning, Janice (Jack) Szafranski of Linwood along with brothers Maynard (Carol) Monson of Tucson, Arizona and Terry (Sue) Monson of Gladwin. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the “Rollers” Golf League, Midland American Legion, Sanford Knights of Columbus, Midland Elks Club, and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish of Sanford.
