SALEM – Ronald Elwood Grim, age 83, departed this life on October 22, 2018 at home with his family. He was born July 22, 1935 in Cameron, West Virginia, the son of the late Hubert and Laura Belle (Goodnight) Grim.

Ron was first and foremost a Christian and an active member of the Church of Christ in Salem, often leading in song and prayer. He was a musician, something he enjoyed immensely and passed down to his children and grandchildren. Many nights were spent singing and playing country music. Ron also enjoyed golfing, even after he was on oxygen. He would just put it in a backpack and go. Ron was then known as “Rocket Man” on the golf course.

He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather (Pap) and great grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Besides his parents, all of his siblings, Mary Bentley, Evelyn (Arthur) Davis, Lillian (Roy) Johnson, Virginia Grim, Edith (John Elvie) Hall, Dorothy (Harry) Crawford, Hubert (Rose) Grim, Betty (Nevin) Frontz, Philip Grim, Janet Hoffman also preceded him in death.

He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Joanne (VanKirk) Grim; three sons, Hubert “Buddy” Grim of Salem, John Grim of Boardman and James Grim of Salem; a daughter, Teresa Windham of Berlin Center; grandchildren, Jordan (Brandon) Floor, Shane Grim, Ethan Grim, Laura Windham, Micah Grim and Logan Grim; a great granddaughter, Lyla Floor; a sister-in-law, Edna Grim, a brother-in-law, Raymond Hoffman and a brother- and sister-in-law John (Barbara) VanKirk and many nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly.
