Ronald G. Markillie, 65, of Jacksonville, IL died Wednesday evening, August 11, 2010, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born August 14, 1944, in Jacksonville; the son of Robert and Eleanor Vieira Markillie. He married Harriett Cole on October 7, 1977, in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by two children, Jami Osborne (husband, Mike) of Jacksonville and Rona West (husband, Bill) of Murrayville; two stepchildren, Jeff Rabjohns (wife, Kristen) of Carmel, IN, and Jennifer Rouland (husband, Babes) of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Alyssa and Alexis Hayes of Jacksonville and Blake, Cody, and Brady West of Murrayville; two step-grandchildren, Spencer and Lauren Rouland of Jacksonville; a great-granddaughter, Dylann Hayes of Jacksonville; and a brother, Robert Markillie (wife, Lorraine) of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A 1962 graduate of Jacksonville High School, Mr. Markillie served as a firefighter for over 24 years with the Jacksonville Fire Department. After retiring, he drove a school bus for Jacksonville School District 117 for eight years. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
