Ronald G. Green, 72, of Newton died on Thursday, January 20, 2022, due to a kidney ailment at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Ron, the son of Russell and Dorothy (Sodak) Green, was born on March 25, 1949 in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1967 where he was active in sports and elected to Delt. Ron pursued his higher education at Drake University.
Ron was a lifetime member of the Newton Elks Lodge. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed trivia, Jeopardy, and country music. Ron was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Ron is survived by his wife of almost 47 years, Kathy Green; sister, Marilyn Lamb; brother, Denny Green; mother-in-law, Josephine Shepard; brother-in-law, Charles Shepard; sister-in-law, Karen Gulling; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Charles Shepard; and several close friends.
