Hagerstown, MD – Ronald Ellsworth “Ronnie” Speaker, 73, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.

 

He was born on July 5, 1949, in Hagerstown, MD to the late Elmer Ellsworth and Martha Lavinia (Higgins) Speaker.

 

Ronnie was a 1967 graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, MD.

 

He was employed by Ryder Pie Trucking of Hagerstown, MD until his retirement.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines Corp serving during the Vietnam War.

 

He was a member of Potomac Post #202 American Legion in Williamsport, MD and Teamsters Local #992 in Hagerstown, MD.

 

Ronnie enjoyed watching his grandchildren play soccer and watching Little League games at Conococheague.  He was a member of the 1961 Maryland State Championship Little League Team.

 

He is survived by his wife Peggy Louise (Delauter) Speaker whom he married on October 22, 1969; daughter Renita L. Statler and her husband Brian of Clear Spring, MD; son Scott M. Speaker of Hagerstown, MD; sister Rebecca Rowland of Williamsport, MD; sister Sharon Kimmel (Bob) of Williamsport, MD; sister Debra Churchey (Kenny) of Falling Waters, WV; sister Phyllis Giffin of Williamsport, MD; brother Michael Speaker (Tracy) of Williamsport, MD; brother Roger Speaker (Angie) of Williamsport, MD; a niece whom he treated like a daughter Shannon Kehne and her mother Thelma Monninger; grandchildren Hannah, Abby, Katie, Chrissy, Jacob, Zachary, Sarah, and Khloe.

 

He was predeceased by 2 brother in laws.
