Ronald Eugene Stempkowski, age 77, of Remington, Indiana passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Franciscan Health Rensselaer. Ron was born in East Chicago, Indiana on March 10, 1941. He was the son of Walter Stempkowski and Irene (Earl) (husband Bob) Clauson. Ron had been a resident of Remington for forty-seven years.
Ron attended Hammond Tech High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed as the executive director of the Indiana Pawnbrokers Association for thirty years.
Ron was an avid golfer and enjoyed time spent on the golf course with family and friends.
On December 30, 1961, in Griffith, Indiana, Ron married Darlene Doan who survives.
Surviving with his loving wife Darlene are three children, Shelli (husband Dick) Maxwell of Rensselaer, IN, Ronda (husband Mike) Troemel of West Lafayette, IN, and Ron Stempkowski, Jr., of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren, Trent Robinson, Sam (wife Molly) Troemel, Emily (fiancee Ryan Ross) Murphy, Elizabeth Murphy, Kelsey Murphy, Adrienne (husband Joshua) Vandercar, Marissa (husband Paul) Younger and Craig Troemel; six great-grandchildren, Kendal Maxwell, Aelah, Simeon, Isiah and Naomi Vandercar and Zaya Younger. Also surviving are two brothers, Lawrence (wife Diane) Stempkowski and Jim (wife Helen) Stempkowski and a sister, Cynthia (husband Larry) Leach all of Florida.
Ron was preceded in death by his father Walter Stempkowski, his mother and stepfather, Irene and Bob Clauson and a son-in-law, Ken Anderson.
