Ron Ogle, 67, of Waldron, formerly of Greensburg, passed away May 8th at home. He was born October 7, 1948, in Marlette, Michigan, the son of Raymond and Margaret (Mosher) Ogle.

He married Alyse Duncil on April 15, 1972, at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. Ron enlisted in the Army in December 1966. He served two tours in Vietnam; the one tour he served with the Combat Engineers and was wounded in June 1969. He also served four tours in Europe. He was also stationed in Ft. Jackson, SC, Ft. Bliss, TX, Ft. Knox, KY, and Ft. Stewart, GA. SSG Ogle retired from the Army in 1986 and moved to Greensburg where he lived for 27 years. Ron received an Associate’s Degree from Ivy Tech Community College, Columbus, and at the age of 54, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana Wesleyan.Ron work in Greensburg at Briggs Equipment and at Printpack. He also worked in Columbus with the Employment Office as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Person, helping veterans get jobs. Ron also worked with the Boy Scouts for 14 years, from Cub Scouting in Ft. Stewart, GA, to Cub Scouting, Boy Scout, and Venture Crew in Greensburg. Ron was also a former member of the First Baptist Church, Greensburg, and participated in many of the Emmaus Walks. He has also attended Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in St. Paul, and One Hope Church in Greensburg. Ron was a member of the St. Leon Post of the American Legion. He received the American Legion National Employment Award in 2010. Ron’s passions were God, family, our country, and fellow veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Alyse Ogle, Waldron; sons, Neal (Brandi) Ogle, Fortville, Derek (Rachel) Ogle, New Lisbon, WI; daughter, Julie (Jeff Reichert) Ogle, Greensburg; brother, Arthur (Pam) Ogle, Grand Ledge, MI; 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn Wren; daughter, Lorrae Ogle.
