Bigbee, Ronald D., “Captain Ron”, 83, of Merritt Island, passed December 3, 2016. He was born to Wilma and C.S. Bigbee in Jacksonville, FL. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Miami. Ron’s career spanned 44 years with AT&T, retiring in 1989. He was an avid fisherman and boat captain, owning Bigbee Marine, chartering offshore and island fishing trips for 10 years. One of his highlights was winning first place in the 1979 FSFA tournament out of Port Canaveral. He was a 32nd degree Mason, Shriner, and Blue Lodge member. Ron is survived by his wife of 39 years, Claudia Diane, daughters Sheri Hicks (Frank) of Taylorsville, GA, Kimberli Bell, and grandson, Chase Treska of Orlando, sister Jean Fussell (Earnest) of Montgomery, AL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Todd Bigbee, and granddaughter Jessica Henderson, both of Taylorsville, GA.
