HAVERHILL – Ronald Antognoni passed away peacefully in Haverhill on October 2. He was born in Haverhill on September 25, 1958 to the parents of the late Guido and Mary. He leaves his sisters Karlene and Roberta both of Bradford and his late sister Mia (Mary Louise) Antognoni.

He also leaves his nieces Vanessa, Christine, and nephew Jeremy. Ron attended schools in Haverhill and Governor Dummer Academy where he was a talented Hockey player. Ron loved hockey and started playing in the streets with his neighborhood friends and then in winter in our back yard and on local teams. Ron was the youngest of 4 with 3 older sisters who doted on him as a child earning him the name of “The King” given to him by his live in grandfather Secondo. Mental illness struck Ron while in prep school preventing him from pursuing his dreams in Hockey and academically. In spite of the hardships Ron experienced, he always kept positive by telling jokes and making others laugh. In his later years he attended a Day Program in the Everette Mills in Lawrence during the day called the “Point after Club”. This is where people who suffer with Mental Illness can just hang out with the ability to choose to work small jobs or
partake in exercising or activities in order to feel a part of the family atmosphere. This program is vital for the many people who suffer with mental illness. After
Danvers State hospital closed back in the 70’s this place was established to give people a safe place to be during the day.
