Ronald B. Morse, Sr., 87, former Woodmont resident, passed away on December 3, 2014 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, West Haven after a brief illness. Mr. Morse, beloved husband of Evelyn (Bryan) Morse, was born on February 24, 1927 in New Haven, CT, son of the late George and Lura (Cooper) Morse.
Besides his wife of 67 years, he is survived by his children Linda Rizzo of Derby, Charles Frank (Colleen) of Grenada, CA, Ronald B. Morse, Jr. of Milford, Patricia Demarais (James) of Milford and Martha Melville (Douglas) of Beacon Falls, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a niece and several nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Claire Fink and Lura Driscoll.
Mr. Morse enlisted in the US Navy in 1944 and served with pride and honor as a seaman first class on the USS McDermutt in the Asiatic Pacific theater and the American theater, receiving the Victory medal. After his discharge, he joined the Milford Fire Department, then became the owner of Lockwood’s Garage in Woodmont. He moved to East Lempster, NH where he then became the Town Road Agent. With his wife, he retired to Deal Island, MD where he spent many years on the Chesapeake Bay on his crabbing boat before returning to Milford. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the West Haven VA Hospital.
