Surviving Ron are two sisters Vicky (Albert) Snider of East Peoria, IL and Pamela (Allen) Shute of Peoria along with seven nephews and four nieces.
This is for those blessed enough to ever share a moment with Ron. Ron attended Richwoods high school and graduated class of 1971. The rules were different from today, and he worked his hardest to break every one of them. He was what most would call a hippie. After high school, he had a few jobs here and there, and out of nowhere, he decided to be a painter. He painted for the next 40 years. His boss described him as loyal and dependable, and all their customers loved him. She said he had more integrity in his pinky than most combined. He cared about everyone’s home and their pets. He saved spiders, toads, and anything you can think of from getting painted. He will be missed every day. She said he was hilarious and didn’t know where her daily laugh would come from.
Most of Ron’s friends were lifelong friends from school. One of his friends he played poker with again described him as hilarious. He always had them in tears with his wit. They talked about if their games had been recorded, they would have been a reality TV hit. Poker will not be the same without him. Another friend tells how he liked mushroom hunting (flat ground only) and fishing. He was an avid Cub fan and a Bears fan. He enjoyed all sports. He loved feeding the birds, raccoons, and most of all, the squirrels. In fact, he had one squirrel that would sit on his shoulder while he mowed on the riding lawnmower. They attracted many passersby, and they would stop and take photos. From back in the day, this same neighborhood friend said they saw each other daily, and he will be so missed, and Ron is thought of every day. Another friend said his life would not be the same without Ron. Ron was such a good friend to everyone he knew. He was selfless. He would do anything for anyone and never expect anything in return. He had the biggest heart and a kind spirit. His life was a living example of the bible verse Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”. One of his most precious moments was when he was baptized Catholic during his illness. He would tell anyone who would listen. He was so content after that.
Ron never married or had children, but his black lab Tyler was the love of his life. Tyler was the boss, and Ron was devastated when he passed. He never had another pet because his heart was broken, and he never wanted to feel that way again. He was a great son, uncle, friend, cousin, and a wonderful brother. To say he was one of a kind just doesn’t do him justice. Life as we know it will never be the same.
