Salem Romley O. Davis, 91, of Big Battle, Salem, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Fairmont General Hospital. He was born in Doddridge Co. on June 16, 1920, the son of Orva and Cora Curry Davis. Mr. Davis is survived by two sons, Eric Davis and wife Deby of Big Battle and Mark Davis and wife Joyce of Stonewood, WV; a daughter-in-law, Diana Davis of Big Flint; ten grandchildren, Connie Moats (Michael), Ryan Davis, Jason Davis (Dodie), Quinton Davis (Samantha), Kelly O’hey (Tim), Chris Davis (Erica), Kristy Davis, Shaun Davis, and Lisa Cheeseman (Adam); several great-grandchildren and neices and nephews. Also surviving is a sister Earldean Spencer of West Union. His wife, Louise Baker Davis, preceded him in death in November, 2000, as well as a son Robert Kent Davis and two sisters, Glorianna Powell and Guilia Helmick. Romley enjoyed an active life-style until his recent illness and was well known for visiting his many friends and neighbors and especially with his good friend, Willis Ash. He was an active member of Evergreen United Methodist Church and was interested in all church and community activities. In earlier years, he enjoyed fishing. He was employed as a millwright at Union Carbide Co.
