Rollin J Lashuay, 92, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at his home on December 3, 2012. He was born in Midland June 16, 1920, the 3rd oldest of 17 children born to John and Bertha Lashuay. Rollin was married to Dorothy Livingston for more than 50 years before she preceded him in death.
Rollin is survived by his two sons, Larry of Shepherd and Michael of Fife Lake, four grandchildren, Christy (Randy) Augustine, Stacy (Gene) Schutt, Shawn Lashuay, and Todd (Heather) Lashuay. Also surviving are five great granddaughters, Meghan, Paige, Jada, Dayna and Claire; and two younger brothers, Donald (Ruth) and Marvin (Audrey), both of Midland.
Following four years of service in the United States Coast Guard, Rollin spent his entire working life with Dow Corning Corporation, starting in the Analytical Lab and ending in the Production Inventory Control Dept. He was a very generous person, supporting a number of groups having to do with children, also military veterans and law enforcement, as well as college scholarships for young people in his church. Rollin was a very active person and really loved the outdoors. Indeed he was still cutting and burning wood for heat in his late 80’s. He was a voracious reader, both fiction novels as well as news and how to books. CNN was always on the TV.
