Hagerstown, MD – Rolland Eugene “Tom” Gladhill, 86, of Hagerstown, MD passed away, Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Born August 20, 1936 in Hagerstown, MD he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Bessie Mills Gladhill.
He was a 1954 graduate of Clear Spring High School. He spent 3 years in the Army as an MP. In his early years he was a store clerk and painter. Later he worked at Mack Trucks Inc. in Hagerstown, MD for 34 years retiring in 1996. In 1997, he went to work part-time for Keystone Ford for 23 years.
Tom was an avid hunter, fisherman and loyal to the Potomac Post #202 American Legion in Williamsport, MD where he served as Past Commander and other positions for 20 plus years. He was currently the Sgt. of Arms.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Rinker Gladhill; son Tom Gladhill (Pam) of Smithsburg, MD; daughters Debra Pitsnogle (Dwayne) of Hagerstown, MD, Paula Socks (Jim) of Hagerstown, MD, Anita Ridge (Michael) of Virginia Beach, VA; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Eugenia Marie Gladhill; brothers Raymond, Charles, James, Floyd and Richard Gladhill; sisters Mable Dove, Helen Gladhill, Mary Kretzinger, Mildred Hornbaker, Betty Weaver and Dorothy Weaver; granddaughter Shannon Ross.
