Roland J. Sewell, 75

West Sand Lake Roland J. Sewell, 75, of Overlook Drive, died Saturday, December 29, 2001, at St. Mary’s Hospital Troy, after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Michael and Violet Waterbury Sewell and husband for 42 years of Beverly Wingert Sewell. He was a lifelong resident of West Sand Lake and was a graduate of Averill Park High School.

Mr. Sewell was the original owner and operator of the Laundry Basket in the 43 Mall in West Sand Lake retiring in 1989. He was also a postal clerk in the West Sand Lake Post Office for 5 years and for 17 years was a dispatcher for the Gulf Oil Corporation in Rensselaer until 1978.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veteran’s; a communicant of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter Robin J. Sewell of West Sand Lake; his son-in-law John Wasyluk; two brothers Irving Sewell of Averill Park and Douglas Sewell of Stephentown and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Patricia Bernier.
