Roland J.A. Jacobs, age 82 of Sanford died at his residence on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The son of the late Edward and Josie (Wright) Jacobs was born on September 25, 1926 in Midland where he was raised and educated. Roland served with the US Army Paratroopers during WWII.
On October 14, 1949 he married the former Doris English. He worked for the Dow Chemical Co with forty two years of service as a Research Accountant retiring in 1985. He served the Poseyville United Methodist Church as their Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Trustee. He loved genealogy. Roland was a man of great faith with a deep and abiding love for God.
Roland is survived by his wife, Doris Jacobs; children; Tim (Susan) Jacobs of Glenwood Springs, CO, Linda (Guy) Thorell of Manistique, and Kathy (Dave) Cole of Cedar Springs; grandchildren, Bob (Lauren) Cole of Grand Rapids, Jessica Cole of Canton, Nathan Thorell of Thornton, CO, Alyssa Jacobs of Glenwood Springs, CO and Kelsey Jacobs of Glenwood Springs, CO. He will also be missed by his sisters, Elaine (Chuck) Hill and Janice (Dennis) Hays. He was predeceased by an infant son, Gary Lee Jacobs.
