Roland C. Fancher, age 63, of Kalamazoo and Cassopolis, died peacefully Tuesday evening, June 21, 2016, in Novant Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina, the day before his 42nd wedding anniversary.Roland was born October 4, 1952 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Russell and Barbara Fancher. He married Dorothy Houser June 22, 1974 in Saginaw, Michigan.
She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents.Roland earned his Juris Doctorate in 1976 from Wayne State University Law School. He was appointed the Friend of the Court in Alpena, Kalamazoo, and Cass Counties, after starting his career in Oakland. He was known statewide for his vast knowledge of FOC operations, cases and his copyrighted computer program used to calculate child support obligations under the statutory guidelines.Roland was also an accomplished thespian who acted in plays from his days as a student at Denby High School in Detroit to Alpena Civic and Thunder Bay Theaters in Alpena.
He was a near professional home handyman who extensively remodeled three of his own houses.Roland will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of almost forty two years, Dorothy Fancher of Kalamazoo; one son and daughter in law, David and Esther Fancher of Carmel, Indiana; one granddaughter, Nadia Fancher; one brother and sister in law, Bruce and Debora Manther of Royal Oak, Michigan; and one nephew, Lucas Manther.
