Roland Beckmeyer Roland August Henry Beckmeyer, 93, of Hoyleton, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia surrounded by his family.
He was born December 13, 1925 in Hoyleton, son of Alvin William Beckmeyer and Louise Marie Lydia (Nierman) Beckmeyer. He married Merle Marie Byars on February 22, 1947 at the First Baptist Church in Centralia and she survives.
In addition to his wife of 71 years, Merle Beckmeyer of Centralia, he is also survived by a son: Mark Beckmeyer and wife Debbie of Hoyleton; a granddaughter: Annamarie Beckmeyer of Hoyleton; two grandsons: Joshua Pokojski of Centralia and Jesse Pokojski and wife Nikki of Centralia; two nieces: Ruth Ann Frizzell and husband Dick of Collinsville and Joyce Rollinson and husband Dan of Summerville, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Minnette Fortmeyer, a brother-in-law: Louis Fortmeyer, and a sister-in-law: Ruth Edna Walker.
Roland farmed all his life in Hoyleton. He was a member of the Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in Hoyleton, where he served on the Men’s Fellowship and Church Counsel. He was also a lifetime member of the Farm Bureau. Roland enjoyed square dancing with his wife for many years. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
