Rolan Alvah Perkes passed away peacefully Monday, May 2, 2016, in Tempe, AZ. He was born in Hyde Park, Utah, on Nov. 26, 1924 to Thomas W. and Rhoda E. Perkes.
He attended grade school in Hyde Park and high school in Richmond until he joined the Navy during WWII. Shortly after a medical discharge he left the area because of acute arthritis and resided in Phoenix, Arizona. Because of his medical condition he only spent the summers in Utah and Idaho where he loved to be.
He met and married Beena Marie Petersen in August of 1962 and had a son, Paul, who lives in Phoenix. Rolan began working for Valley National Bank and later on finished high school. He went on to higher education and began his career as a physical plant manager for the bank in Phoenix and later in Tucson. Rolan lived in so many places it was hard to keep up with him. He enjoyed his busy life and especially coming to the Perkes Reunion, which he never missed. He liked riding his horses he shared with his brother Doral in Cache Valley.
He is survived by his wife Beena and son Paul, stepson Victor, Phoenix, AZ, and stepdaughter Susan, Smithfield, UT; two brothers Larry Udell, Perry, Utah, and Doral, St. George, Utah. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Asa, Carroll, Theo, Eldon, Gaylen and Arthur. Sisters Rhelda, Vera, Elaine, Kate and Mell Ree.
