Roger D. Maas, age 71, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020, on hospice care, at his residence in Atlantic after a month-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Roger was born November 21, 1949, in Atlantic, IA, to Gilbert and Florence (Stier) Maas. He graduated from Anita High School in 1968. On January 18, 1969, he married the love of his life Patricia Kay Brix. Roger was employed by Pelgas and he was drafted in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1972 with a silver star.
Upon returning from Vietnam, Roger started farming outside of Anita, IA, and worked at night at Walnut Grove Feed. After farming, the family moved to The Walnut Grove Research Farm where Roger worked as the swine supervisor.
