Roger Lloyd Deide, 61, died unexpectedly in his Caldwell home on Monday, March 15, 2010 of natural causes.
The oldest of five children, Roger was born July 14, 1948 in the old Caldwell hospital to Lloyd Milton and Carlene Beth Deide. He never strayed far from his Idaho roots. Roger was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover.
Roger was a private person and seldom mentioned the two tours he spent in Viet Nam during the war. But, as a former sergeant in the US Marine Corp, he was proud to be an American and flew the U.S. flag on the tall flagpole in the front his home.
Roger worked in the R.V. industry for 30 plus years.
Roger had many friends, but his closest ties were to his family. He is survived by his wife, Sandi; mother, Carlene Deide; sons, Tom Deide and Curtis Ward; and daughters, Kristi Beckman and Nikki Starr. He dearly loved his grandchildren, Michael Salzman, Tegon Starr, Nolan Starr and Katy Kester and was looking forward to the newest baby due in the fall, the first child of Tom and Rachel. Roger is also survived by brothers, Rodney, Gary (Darlene) and Mark; sister, Cindy Deide; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Milton Deide; son, Kevin Salzman; and great nephew, Damian J Wyman.
Roger used a gruff voice to hide a soft caring heart. But the twinkle in his eyes always gave him away. If someone needed a helping hand, Roger was there. He didn’t want recognition–he was just there to help. We will miss you, Roger…
