Roger Lloyd Becker was born June 19, 1934 in Pocahontas County to Carsten W. and Ella M. (Nehman) Becker.  He attended country school in Jolley and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1952. During his life Roger was a humble, hard working man who took great pride in his efforts to care for his family, livestock and farm, and the vehicles and equipment that were entrusted to him. He was not always the neatest but he could make anything run and was a man to be counted on.

After high school he moved to Colorado to work on a cattle ranch.  During his time in Colorado he cared for and showed their competition string of bulls and later hired on with others to travel the national show circuit, riding the train with the animals, sleeping in the cattle cars, and barns.

After returning home in 1955 he worked on the family farm near Knoke and was drafted into the United States Army in April 1956 to 1962. During his military career, which included 2 years active duty and 4 years of reserves, he achieved the rank of Active Sgt.  Roger worked in the motor pool while in Germany, and was proud of how he shined up and kept his jeep. He was responsible for transporting generals and officers on a regular basis.

Nov. 6, 1960 he married Juanita Rae Loots and they made their home on the family farm until 1986.  Roger’s family worked hard and played hard.

After the death of their spouses, Roger and Joyce Vosberg reconnected.  Roger retired and moved to Manson the summer of 2005, they were married Nov. 8, 2008.

After a short illness Roger passed on October 2, 2022 at the age of 88.  He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cindy (1987), wife Juanita (2002), son Lynn (2017), sister Mavis Partlow, and sister-in-laws, Donna Becker, Lois Becker and Judy Putnam.

Roger is survived by his daughter Patricia (Patty), her husband David Calderwood and their three children: Carston, Christy (Nick Flamme), and Carissa Calderwood.  His surviving Becker family includes step grandson’s Brett, Justin and Kevin Michaud, brothers Lawrence and Gordon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Roger is also survived by his wife Joyce Vosberg, sons Steve (Kim) Vosberg, and Don (Tammy) Vosberg, granddaughters Stephanie (Josh) Bernards, and Melissa (Brooks) Zamzow.  Roger enjoyed their six great grandchildren: Amelia, Levi, and Jonathan Bernards; and Trent, Sawyer, and Holden Zamzow.
