Roger was born April 19, 1950 in Akron and graduated from Norwayne High School in 1969. On Aug. 13, 1972 he married the former Kathy Wright and she survives. While growing up in Sterling, he had worked at Rupp Farms and following graduation he spent nearly 40 years at Ford Motor Company where he retired from in 2008. Roger was a High School Umpire and Referee having umpired boys baseball for 32 years, girls softball for 26 years and refereed basketball for 5 years. Roger recently received a Hall of Fame Award from the Wayne County Umpires Association for dedication. He coached High School Boys and Girls basketball from 1988 – 2014 as well as having coached High School Baseball. Roger coached Little League Baseball and helped run the Little League Program in Creston for several years and in 1993 was honored as a Citizen of the Year for his service to the Creston and Norwayne Community. He was a member of the Creston Moose Lodge, Sterling K of P Lodge, Wayne County Umpires Association and the U.A.W. Local 1250. Roger enjoyed golfing with his buddies, trips in his motor home to the beach, sitting in his garage with friends, watching sports, was a big Ohio State Fan and most of all he loved watching is grandkids play sports. He also loved his dog, Jade.
