Roger D Shannon went home to Jesus on Friday, January 8th, a little before sundown. He is survived by his beautiful wife and best friend, Kaye. In addition are his brother Len Shannon and wife Pam, his sister-in-law Joyce Cauley, niece Stacey and husband Jarvis Watson, nephew Chris Cauley and wife Katie, niece Andrea Shannon, niece Noel and husband Tony Almeida, grand-nephews Caleb, Seth, Brandon, Parker, and AJ, and grand-nieces Abbey, Kaiya, and Chanelle.
A West-Virginia born Jesus-serving Florida Gator, Roger had a life filled with love.
First and foremost, he loved serving his Lord and God. He loved studying the bible. He loved being a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He loved going down memory lane. He loved writing about his early childhood and West Virginia. He loved 60’s music.
He loved UF Gator sports and was more often than not seen in gator gear.
His great love was traveling, with his favorite places being Sanibel Island, Maine, and the mountains. He loved shelling on the beach. He loved taking day trips.
His strongest love outside of Jesus was his wife, Kaye. In her words, “he loved me, which was my great fortune.”
