Roger Morrison, formerly of Monument, CO, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Roger was born at home on the family farm in Statesville, N.C. in January, 1940.
Roger was a loving husband, father and grandfather. An only child, Roger was proceeded in death by his parents Brennie and Gilmer. He was also proceeded in death, a mere 6 years ago, by Ramelle, his wife of 50 years. Roger leaves behind his children, Bret Morrison (Sarah), Michelle Lundstedt (Doug), his forever daughter-in-law Meredith Griffin (Tim), 4 grandchildren; Jordan Lundstedt, Braden Morrison, Gavin Morrison, Redemption Morrison and his grand-dog Lady.
Roger was a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering. Roger proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force from 1962-1982, retiring out of Offutt AFB at the rank of Lt. Colonel, only retiring to avoid being stationed at the Pentagon. Everyone who knew Roger, knew how adamant he was about never doing a tour in D.C.
After leaving the Air Force, Roger and Ramelle settled in Monument, CO for 26 years. Roger worked for several Aerospace Defense contractors until he completely retired to enjoy golfing and grandkids.
Roger lived a quiet life for the past 6 years. If he was not golfing, at the library or at one of his 4 favorite places to eat lunch, he was with his grandchildren. Roger was often seen on the walking trail with his grand-dog Lady.
Roger did not like to travel and refused to go anywhere, often voicing his disapproval. He did however; love to look at pictures of his children and grandchildren and hear their tales of trips and adventures. He always said he lived his life through us. Roger was not only a hero to his Country, he was a hero to his family.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the doctors and staff at Penrose Hospital and the doctors at Cardiac & Thoracic Surgery Associates for their diligence, astounding care and wonderful compassion shown to our family during this devastating time.
