Rodney Silbaugh, age 59 of Humboldt, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Rodney Eugene Silbaugh, son of Sherman and Virginia (Bratland) Silbaugh, was born on September 14, 1957 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He attended Humboldt Schools and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1976. Rod had a long time career as a craftsmen carpenter and worked for Gronbach Construction until his health declined. Prior to that Rod worked for the Humboldt County Conservation Board for many years, Forman for Colorado Door Construction overseeing his biggest and proudest projects of the Denver Broncos Stadium. Rod was a past volunteer firefighter serving on the Humboldt Fire Department for 11 years. He also served as the Director for the Humboldt County Conservation. He enjoyed his time when he was young spending time at Iowa Lakes with his family and friends, also elk hunting in Colorado with his Dad and Uncle as a Teenager. One of his greatest hobbies and talents was wood working and took great pride in everything he made. In these last years his most cherished moments was spending time with his kids and especially his grandkids. He also was an avid Broncos Fan! Left to cherish Rod’s memory are his son Luke (Divya) Silbaugh of Boone and their children, Ayden, Devin and McKayla; daughter Cassie (Kyle) McCloud of Boone and their children, Austin, Jordan, Issac and Stella; son Lance Silbaugh of Iowa City; their mother, his former wife and dear friend Ingrid Weber; his son Connor Morain of Fort Dodge; his parents Sherman and Virginia Silbaugh of Humboldt; sister Vicky Silbaugh of Humboldt and her children Quentin and Vanya; sister Zoe (Rick) Sawyer of Elizabeth, Colorado and their children Jessica and Justin and numerous aunts, uncles, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
