Rodney Sadler Blakeley

October 10, 1955 – September 16, 2021

Rod passed away at the age of 65 on September 16, 2021, from a 3-month battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family in his last hours.

Rod was born on October 10, 1955, in Ogden, Utah; the son of Ray W. and E. June Blakeley.

He graduated from Weber High School in 1974.

Rod married Sue Flanigen on March 16, 1985. They later divorced but remained the best of friends.

He was employed by many employers, but he spent much of his working life as a HVAC specialist. In his later years he was employed by Ogden City Schools and Weber State University. He was a jack of all trades and did so much throughout his life.

He loved going to the cabin in the Uintah Mountains, four wheeling, and his occasional trip to Wendover. When he was home, he enjoyed going to Weber State Football games and was a very dedicated fan. Go Wildcats!

Rod is survived by his best friend, Sue, and their four children: Christine Owens, Joseph Lee, Patricia (Trish) Lee, and Tyler Blakeley. His six grandchildren: Taylor Owens, Koalby Owens, Kelsey Owens, Aryanna Lee, Colin Lee, and Elora Blakeley. His two great-grandchildren: Abel Smith and Ezra Smith. Surviving also by his siblings: Steven (Connie) Blakeley, Jill (Dale) Loftus, and Heidi (Robert) Hirschi.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Jerry Blakeley.

A big thank you to Trish, Taylor, and Sue for their constant and loving care. Rod was never left alone. The family would also like to thank his private nurse Allie who came faithfully twice a day to care for him and the staff with Applegate Hospice for all the care they provided.

Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45am.
