Rodney Gene Holt, a resident of Ypsilanti, and former resident of Riverdale and St. Johns, Michigan died on April 29, 2024 at the age of 69.Born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, on January 17, 1955, the son of Robert George Holt, Sr. and Iva Mae Brien, Rod grew up in Mt. Pleasant where he was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He obtained his Business Degree at Central Michigan University, and it was at Central that he met Diann Kanaski. They fell in love and married on April 10, 1976 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, where they made their home for many years, and where Rod enjoyed his work at Deans True Value Hardware.He held a deep love for the outdoors, deer hunting or basking in the sun on his family farm in Riverdale among his favorite pastimes. His meticulous nature was expressed in his love for tools, often found tinkering and reorganizing them. An avid reader, Rodney found solace in the world of books and was also a car enthusiast, often engrossed in researching his favorite models. What mattered most to Rodney was his cherished family. His move to Ypsilanti last year to be near his two granddaughters was a testament to his love for them. They were his joy, his favorite thing, and he poured all his love into his relationship with them.Rod was a beacon of strength and resilience, living his life with grace and kindness despite his health challenges. He had many ups and downs with Multiple Sclerosis, and was wheelchair bound since 2015, but he was gracious and kind to his wife and all who helped him over the years.In addition to Diann, his beloved wife of over forty-eight years, he is survived by his daughters, Wendy and Katie Holt; his son, Patrick (Janet Leppala) Holt; granddaughters, Norah Elliot Leppala-Holt; siblings, Russell Holt, Dianne Holt, Roger (Cindy) Holt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ann Holt, Mary Ann (Dan) Henning, JoAnn (the late Wallace) Wiles, Leonard Kanaski, Mike (Bobbi) Kanaski, Larry (Angie) Kanaski, Russell (June) Kanaski, Rhonda (Mike) Howell, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert \”Bob\” Holt, and uncle Ray \”Snoozer\” Holt.
