Rodney Gayle Schmitz, age 71, resident of Wilmer, AL, departed this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Schmitz retired after 23 years on the Prichard Police Department.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, O.W. (Clara) Schmitz, and two brothers; Wilson Schmitz, and Terry Schmitz. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Diane Schmitz, one daughter; Lisa (Kevin) Mills, two grandchildren; Kirstie (Rick) Kichler, and Karlie Mills, four brothers; Michael Schmitz, Johnny (Ann) Young, Sr., Kenny (Rhonda) Young, and Ernie (Bonnie) Young, two sisters; Maxine Clark, and Janet (Harold) Hollinhead, and many other family and friends.
