Rodney D. “Roddy” Harris, 46, of Bloomington passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born, February 2, 1974 in Bloomington, he was the son of the late Rodney “Rod” Harris and Glenda (Meadows) Leach.

Roddy was a self employed delivery driver, distributing Bimbo Bakery products to many area stores. He was a lifelong member of AMVETS Post #2000, and a member of the American Legion Post #18, Moose Lodge #1081, and the Eagles Lodge #1085.

Roddy lived for dirt track racing buying his first street stock in 1990. He purchased an open wheel modified in 1997 and received the Rookie of the Year as a driver at the Bloomington Speedway. In 2017 he co-owned the open wheel modified with his father that won the Bloomington Track Championship with Bradley Sterrett piloting the race car.

December 29, 2020, Roddy received the Emma and Joie Ray Courage Award presented by the Hoosier Auto Racing Foundation, he was so proud.

Roddy was a loving son, brother, nephew and cousin who will be missed dearly by his family and countless friends.

Survivors include sisters, Angie Batchelor (Trint), Amanda Koontz, and Janel Koontz, nieces and nephews, Levi Potter, Jake Harper (Selena), Kenlynn Smith, Thatcher Koontz, and Alaric Koontz, great-niece and nephew, Ryker Harper and River Potter, caregivers and cousins, Vicky and Mark Hunter, and Scott and Kelli Lentz, his best friend, Matt Raines, and his “favorite girl” Maryna Raines, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his dogs, Maggie and Dash. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wanda Sample, Foster “Bud” Meadows, and Dorothy and Russell Harris.
