Rodney “Bud” Kevin Caplinger, 63, of Clarksburg passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the United Hospital Center with family by his side. He was born December 15, 1955 in Clarksburg, WV; the son of Lois E. Bennett Caplinger of Clarksburg and the late Donald L. Caplinger.
In addition to his mother, Bud is survived by one son, Captain Sean Andrew Caplinger, FT Hood, TX; four grandchildren, Corey Allen Caplinger, Sydnee Hope Caplinger, Sean Christopher Michael Caplinger, and Cheryl “Lucy” Emily Caplinger; one brother, Todd Gregory Caplinger of Clarksburg; sister-in-law, Marsha Kay Golden Caplinger, Clarksburg; nieces and nephews, Presley Caplinger, Graham Caplinger and wife Taylor of Sunrise, FL, Justin Caplinger and companion Erin Sandy, Clarksburg; three great nephews; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins that he cherished.
In addition to his father, Bud was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Lee Caplinger on October 23, 2018.
Bud graduated from WI High School, Class of 1975. He was a skilled mechanic working at Regency Autohaus in Naples, FL and returning to WV to run his own business for many years, Don’s Garage. He enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles, car racing, arguing politics, and spending time with his family and many friends. Bud was known as a social butterfly and never met a stranger.
