Rodger Dale “Dudley” Clark, age 66, passed away at his home in Hazel Green on Sunday, December 13, 202O from a heart attack. His death was a sudden shock, but everyone knew Dudley didn’t like to wait around for anything or anybody!
Dudley grew up in Toney/Ardmore area and attended Sparkman High School. He was a tire builder at Dunlop for 23 years, and then worked in construction until he retired. He spent his retirement taking care of his family, loving and aggravating his granddaughters, fishing, spending time with his brothers and sisters, and telling stories with friends at the local store. He was a devoted husband, an outstanding father/grandfather, and a true friend that always showed up when he was needed. Dudley loved a good joke, singing/songwriting, playing the guitar/mandolin, and tinkering with anything. He never slowed down, rarely said no, and often kept going simply off of a pure stubbornness we all loved and admired. That stubbornness was balanced by a caring soul and servant’s heart that will forever leave a hole in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon Thrasher Clark of Hazel Green; his daughter, Ashley (Kyle) Seymour of Hazel Green; his granddaughters, Abigail and Shelby Seymour; five brothers: Kenneth Clark, Lonnie Clark, Joe (Judy) Clark, Roy Clark, and Rev. Michael (Mona) Clark; two sisters: Barbara (James) Gurley and Doris (Doyle) Peoples; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Clark, his mother, Dorothy Cothren Clark, and his brother Garry Clark.
