Rodger D. Skinner, 81, passed away April 17, 2016, in Greenwood. He was born February 24, 1935, in Indianapolis, to his parents, Wallace and Echo (Roberts) Skinner. He was happily married to his wife, Caroline (Howell) Skinner, on December 20, 1958, they were married for 57 years. They resided in Greenwood.
Rodger was self-employed and worked as a general contractor. He served his country, bravely in both the Air Force and the Reserves, during the Cuban Crisis. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. He loved traveling and writing poetry. He was a man of great character and faith; he faithfully served at the Suburban Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Caroline (Howell) Skinner, three children, Dawn Ann Skinner of Greenwood, Ronda (Todd) Dygert of Brownsburg, and Amy (Chris) Matei of Greenwood, six grandchildren: Joshua Dygert, Brittany Dygert, Steven Skinner, Emma Matei, Ethan Matei, and Eric Matei, and one great grandchild, Jacob Skinner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Echo Skinner, three sisters, Frances Layton, Nancy Eastridge, Linda Sue Bailey, and three brothers, Wallace Skinner Jr., Fredrick Skinner, and Robert Skinner.
