Obituary of Roderick W. McIntyre
McIntyre, Roderick “Rod” W. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Cartwright Hospice Residence. He was 87 years old. Roderick William McIntyre was born on March 18, 1927 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Alexander J. and Gladys L. (Kelly) McIntyre. He married Lavonne B. Brandt; she preceded him in death on February 17, 2011. Out of high school, he joined the United States Army and served during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he graduated from Central Michigan University. Later, he and his brothers would run the family business, Mooney’s Ice Cream; which was an icon of Saginaw for over 50 years. Rod was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He is survived by his two sons: Joseph Moskal and Patrick (Patsy) Moskal; two grandsons: Sean and Christopher Moskal; two brothers Lloyd and Kenneth (Shirley) McIntyre; sister-in-law: Polly McIntyre; and numerous extended family.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents; wife of over 30 years, Lavonne; sister, Agnes LaRocque; and three brothers: Bernard (Sue) McIntyre, Floyd McIntyre, and Roland (Doris) McIntyre.
