Roderick Bernard Curtis was born on January 12, 1951, in Denver, Colorado, to his parents, Bennie L. Curtis, and Oneida Curtis. He was the firstborn child and was privileged to share his childhood with his siblings, Tony, and Gregory. As a child, Roderick was active and loved to play hard, as boys do.
Roderick received his formal education in the Denver Public Schools District. In 1978, He graduated from Manual High School. With a made-up mind, Roderick continued his education by attending Barbering School. He obtained his Barbering License, and later became a Master Barber. His skills excelled the expectations of most.
While working in the Barbershop, Mr. Curtis met a young lady, Denise Walker. He and Denise started dating, and on June 8, 1981, in Denver, Colorado, they were married. Roderick made it a regular practice of serenading Denise with Luther Vandross songs. To this union, two children were born, Shauntae, and Raushanah. Denise preceded Roderick in death. Later, Roderick met Jonnie Brown. On June 3, 2003, they became one in holy matrimony. They loved spending time together. Although no children were born to this union, they were able to share the love they had for all of his children, Dedrice, Raushanah, Shauntae, Dazha, and Desirae. Roderick was later blessed with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who called him, “Paw-Paw.”
Roderick loved the Lord with all of his heart.
