Rocco (Rocky) Iannaci
September 15, 1934 to November 6, 2013
BOZRAH – Rocky Iannaci was born September 15, 1934 in Norwalk, CT.
Soon after his family settled into the Norwich area, he attended school and started work at his first job, a shoe shine boy on the streets of Norwich. There, he mastered his social skills at a young age. He went on to play the trumpet and even had is own band “The Blue Notes”. After high school he joined the army reserve where he learned his culinary skills. In his next adventure, he owned his own hamburger joint in downtown Norwich. If Rocky was busy, he would let people throw their own burger on the grill!
While his hobby of boxing gave him a physical challenge, it was playing cards that gave him his mental challenge. Few who had the opportunity to play with him over the years had much of a chance of winning, but that never stop them. He taught them to play better and have fun at the same time. One man years ago was quoted as saying “I could not win against him but kept playing because it was so much fun”.
He found his profession in life in his late twenties. He started working as a laborer for a mason, learning the skill and excelling at his craft. Rocky continued working up until his illness. The footprints he leaves behind are all of his beautiful and unique stone works. These will live on for many years to come.
