Roberto G. Perez, age 70, of Belleville, IL, born Tuesday, December 16, 1947 in Bayview, TX passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. Roberto worked as a supervisor at the Marathon LeTourneau shipyards in his younger years and had an active lifestyle. He held an outspoken, generous, and straightforward personality which he focused on maintaining strong family bonds and imparting his experiences to his loved ones.
Roberto was also a talented handyman and mechanic who selflessly shared his skills time and again for any of his family and friends who were in need. Later in his life, Roberto enjoyed going fishing, family gatherings, playing board games and cards with his grandchildren, and testing his luck at casinos. Although his health may have ebbed, his spirit and vitality never faded, and will live on among his surviving family’s memories.
Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Losa and Zenaida Perez, nee Gonzales. Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy Perez, nee Gomez; seven children, Robert G. Perez II of Los Fresnos, TX, Roman G. (Margaret) Perez of Rio Hondo, TX, Victor R. Perez of Belleville, IL, Elizabeth M. (Gerry) Garza of Harlingen, TX, Cynthia (Randy) Averette of Mebane, NC, Mary Ellen (Ryan) Miksell of Fairview Heights, IL, Mark A. Perez of Belleville, IL; three sisters, Elena Ely of Troy, SC, Josephine Garcia of Corpus Christi, TX, Orilia Trevino of Armona, CA; four brothers, Sal Ruiz of Kerman, CA, Gilbert L. Perez of Madera, CA, Joe Perez of San Antonio, TX, Richard Perez of Sanger, CA; fourteen grandchildren, Jarod Perez, Brendan Perez, Danielle Perez, Gabriel Perez, Alyssa Perez, Ethan Perez, Sean Perez, Orin Enloe, Raven Garza, Iommi Garza, Christian Averette, Corbin Averette, Robert James Miksell, and Keenan Chase Miksell.
