Retired TSGT. Roberto Abrego Diaz age 72, went to be with the Lord June 17, 2017 at Edinburg Renaissance. He was a member of a pioneer Harlingen family. Mr. Diaz served his country honorably with the U.S. Airforce. He served 3 tours in Vietnam and was a highly decorated soldier. He received numerous medals too many to mention but was recipient of a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, which he was most proud of. He was a member of the Last Patrol, Purple Heart and Wounded Warriors, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 856 Harlingen, Texas, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 121.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Perla Zamora Diaz; 2 children from a previous marriage, Rebecca Lynn Diaz and Robert A. Diaz Jr.; a grandson, Edward Diaz; sister, Isabel Diaz; brother, Cristobal Abrego Diaz. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces and 2 fur babies, Sugar and Lady Bug Diaz.
Roberto is preceded in death by his parents, Cristobal Diaz Sr. and Felipa Abrego Diaz; siblings, Armando Diaz, Margarita Diaz Madrid, his twin brother, Gilberto Diaz.
