Roberto Arias Sr., age 98, was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior in the early morning of Friday April 9, 2021 at his residence. He is now reunited with the love of his life, his beloved wife, Julia Avila Arias, whom he has longed for the past fourteen years. We are heart broken to let him go; but at the same time have great joy and peace knowing, he is with Our Mom, dancing up a storm in Heaven.
Mr. Arias was a well known, loved and respected man in Harlingen. He was a lifelong resident of Harlingen, born on March 3, 1923 in Mexico City, Mexico. He had a strong faith to Our Lord and was a life member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Roberto was a sole-proprietor among several other business ventures. He owned and operated Robert’s Meat Market in Harlingen for many years until his retirement. After he retired you would often find Mr. Arias at his sons’ studio, the “Olympus Gym” either working out or staying busy with light work at the gym. Dad loved spending time at the gym. He was very social and made many friends there, he never met a stranger.
He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory his four sons, Jesus “Jesse” Arias and wife Janet, Roberto “Bob” Arias Jr. and wife Gracie, Federico “Fred” Arias and Guillermo “Willie” Arias, Grandchildren, Michelle Arias (Douglas), Megan Arias, Bianca Arias (Michael), Victoria Arias Mata (Eric), David Arias (Valeria), Roberto “Bobby” Arias III and William Arias, Great-Grandchildren, Madison Jade Ortiz, Adylin Ortiz, Ayden Ortiz, Julia Grace Martinez, Ellie Rebekah Mata, Eric Mata Jr., Isaiah Mata, Kyeli Mata, Aubrey Mata, Joshua David Arias, Caleb David Arias and Elian David Arias, one sister, Bertha Ovin. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Julia Avila Arias, five siblings, Ricardo Arias, Herman Arias, Fernando Arias, Juan Arias and Anita Arias.
