Roberta Jean Lamont (nee Lawrence), a cherished wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother, passed away on July 24, 2023, in Williamsburg, Virginia, with her beloved husband by her side.\r\n\r\n Roberta was born on September 30, 1944, in Barberton, Ohio. She graduated top of her class from St. Vincent High School and served as vice president of her class. Not only was Roberta incredibly intelligent, she had an ineffable beauty and charming personality, earning her the esteemed title of Barbertons Cherry Blossom Queen. As an ambassador of beauty and goodwill, she represented the heart of the Barberton community with grace and humility.\r\n\r\n Driven by her passion for knowledge and learning, Roberta received the Centennial Scholarship, a prestigious scholarship to attend the University of Denver, where she met her husband of 59 years. During her time there, she thrived academically and became copy editor of the university newspaper, The Clarion, and the yearbook, The Kynewisbok.\r\n\r\n An avid reader and supporter of public libraries, Roberta found inspiration in books throughout her life, and this passion ignited her love for writing. Beyond her scholarly pursuits she enjoyed playing the piano, solving crossword puzzles, sewing, and traveling. Her adventures took her to numerous corners of the globe, including Spain, Turkey, Norway, Mexico, Italy, and Germany, where she treasured making memories with her loved ones.\r\n\r\n In her professional life, Roberta excelled as a dedicated Avon national trainer and district sales manager for over 25 years. Her unwavering commitment to her work earned her the esteemed title of Circle of Excellence Manager, and she was the proud recipient of numerous awards throughout her career.\r\n\r\n Throughout her journey, Roberta found immense comfort and strength in her faith, especially in her later years. It was this faith that sustained her lively spirit and provided guidance through lifes joys and challenges.\r\n\r\n Roberta is survived by her husband, George H. Lamont III, brother, David Lawrence (Irene), sister, Peggy Beach, son, Ret. Colonel George Lamont IV (Amy), daughter, Suzanne Lamberth (Mike), grandchildren, Ashleigh, Taylor, Caitlin, Samantha, Mary, and Kathryn. Additionally, she leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, and many brother and sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly. Roberta was preceded in death by her mother and father, Robert and Margaret Marge Lawrence and brother, Robert Jr.\r\n\r\n Roberta will forever be remembered for her brilliant mind, unwavering wit, and compassionate heart. Her legacy of love, kindness, and intellectual curiosity will continue to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
