Roberta J. Kious, nee Hoover, 85, of Shiloh, IL, born Tuesday, December 6, 1932, in Taylorville, IL died on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Morningside of Shiloh. Roberta was a 1950 graduate of Taylorville High School and received a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1954. She worked for many years in the continuity department at WTAX radio in Springfield, Illinois and in the public relations department at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Following retirement, she moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas where she enjoyed taking care of her cats, playing bridge, spending time with her mother, and running. Roberta began running at the age of 50 and went on to earn the title of Arkansas State Champion for her age bracket. She later returned to Illinois and lived in O’Fallon for several years. Roberta married Parker Len Kious on September 18, 1957. She devoted herself to caring for him before his death in 2017.

Following her husband’s death, Roberta moved to Morningside of Shiloh. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband; and parents, Robert and Vivian Hoover, nee Gram. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Patty) Kious of Collinsville, IL; grandchildren, Wesley (Garrett) Gosselink of Naperville, IL, Marci (John) Reiter of Cleveland, TN; great-grandchildren, Parker Gosselink, Reed Gosselink, Alyson Reiter, J.R. Reiter; and her beloved cat, Noel. The family would like to thank the employees of Morningside for the loving care given to Roberta during her stay.
