Roberta Irene Knapp, 75, Des Moines, Iowa, died Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Bright Kavanagh House with her family at her side. Bert was born in Des Moines on May 21, 1946, to Robert & Irene Ruth (Harrison) Fredrickson. She graduated from Lincoln High School and entered the workforce. She retired from Prairie Meadows Resort as the housekeeping supervisor.
Survivors include husband, Andy Knapp, kids, Tina, Margie, Kim (Eric), & Eddie (Heather), grandkids, Jimmy, Luke, Blake, Kurt, Sondra, Hunter, Brady, & Chrissy, great-grandkids, Zade, Zia, Jameson, Isaiah, Lloyd, Bella, and Kinzley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob & Irene, son, Patrick Knapp, grandsons, Jordan Knapp & Curtis Bailey, and sisters, Pat and Georgie.
Raising her family took precedent after a long day of work. When the family found the extra time they enjoyed camping and fishing together. Bert was a fish magnet, she would be reeling them in when no one else was, especially Andy.
Gambling was fun, but she loved to SHOP. A chronic bargain shopper, she had her own paper warehouse in the basement long before anyone imagined a personal paper shortage. She and the girls would clandestinely buy and store extra contraband (necessities!) and bring them over to the basement piecemeal as to elude Andy’s detection. He was onto the ruse but refrained from confronting them. Andy is always the peacekeeper.
